The Power of the Internet

One of the most pivotal things for any monarchist or monarchist organisation is to ‘spread the word’. It’s what the left are so good at – where they succeed they do so solely by promotion of their ideologies. For conservatives, whether they want change in some way or are happy with the status quo, the notion of the ‘silent majority’ often rings true.

Australians for Constitutional Monarchy (ACM) have taken another step today to ensure that their message gets out there; they’ve launched an updated version of their website, their main reach to the community.

No site is perfect, but their new one is certainly a great improvement. It reflects the changing nature of the internet and the changing nature of online communities. People are no longer interested in constantly static information but constantly updated information. The principle behind their new site is the same principal that has led to the continued success of The Monarchist.

It is a principal that all monarchists need to heed. While the principle doesn’t apply solely to the web it is through constantly updated websites we can engage more people. It was the ability of ACM, the Australian Monarchists League and other such organisations, to inform the Australian people that saw 72% of Australia reject the 1999 referendum to become a republic.

Of course, in 1999 their, nor our, internet presence was nowhere near as strong. But to borrow from Sir Winston, “the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old”.
